I don’t know about y’all, but spring has sprung, and I am all about it!
Seriously I get so excited for season changes. Living in central Texas means we only get about two, so they are very exciting. Once the world starts to defrost and everything starts blooming, I get an organizing and decorating bug!!
Obviously, I can’t just start from scratch and completely remodel my house, but here are a few things I do to make my house feel more fresh and ready for spring and summer!
SPRING CLEANING. I’m probably weird, but I LOVE organizing and cleaning. It feels so good to declutter and throw stuff out and get everything sparkly clean all over again. I’m no minimalist, but I do love a relaxing and comfortable space. And to me that means an organized and decluttered space.
PLANTS! They make a home/outdoor space look so fresh and ready for spring! Okay so I am actually pretty bad at keeping plants alive. I promise I water them (usually), but they still manage to die. So, I do a lot of fake plants. My mom is probably screaming at this point because she has a really great green thumb, but I just don’t! I have a few living plants outside, but I can’t keep that many alive, so I do a lot of fake ones inside and outside!
POP of color! Once spring comes around, my outdoor décor becomes a lot more colorful. I also like to add some color indoors. This is usually accomplished by my (fake) plants. But I also like to keep fresh flowers in a vase for some color! You can also accomplish this with some colorful pillows or throw blankets!
ESSENTIAL OILS! I am an essential oils lover! If anything, they are great for the smell! During the warmer seasons I like to diffuse fresh smells like lavender, lemon, grapefruit, etc. Anything floral or citrusy! You can accomplish this with scented candles as well, but I personally prefer the oils because they last longer and don’t create any smoke.
These are just a few things that I do to make my house feel like spring and to satisfy my urge to purge and redecorate! I would love to know what you do to get your house ready for spring and summer!
