Being a Joyful Mama

I believe that joy comes from a thankful heart. If we are thankful and content with what God has given us, we can find true joy.

Since I’ve become a mother, I have so many more things to be thankful for. My healthy and happy baby boy, my home, my amazing hardworking husband, all of our physical blessing, our gifts and talents and our growing relationships with God. Yet, I have also found it so much easier to be negative. How often do I focus on what’s WRONG instead of what’s RIGHT?  Way too often.

2 Thessalonians 5:18 tells us that we should give thanks in ALL circumstances. That means even the circumstances that are hard. Even the circumstances that are frustrating and overwhelming. I don’t know the struggles that you may be facing today, but in my own day to day life, I know that there is ALWAYS something to be thankful for! Even if the only thing I can come up with is that Jesus gave his life for me. That is HUGE one to be thankful for!

Thankfulness and contentment are so life changing. When I let these things control my day instead of worry and negativity, it really changes the mood of our home. Joy can truly fill our home! We have the power to let ourselves lead joyful and contented lives if we will just be thankful. Be thankful for what you have right now. Be thankful for the season of life you are in right now. Embrace whatever comes with that.

Psalm 106:1 “Give thanks to the Lord for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever.”

God loves you and he gave his son up for you. And God’s love for you will never change, no matter how your life changes. Let that knowledge control your attitude and your outlook!
